Responsibilities

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario is currently seeking a Governance Analyst to help support the College’s growing and evolving governance function. The Governance Analyst will maintain currency in effective governance practices and support change both internally and externally. Reporting to the Director of Policy and Communications, the Governance Analyst will work with other members of the Governance team, including the Governance Coordinator, Corporate Legal Counsel and the Governance Committee to review and maintain relevancy of the College’s governance policies and practices. The role will also provide program oversight and responsibility for all aspects of the nominations function including screening, recruitment and support the development of enhanced systems to support performance feedback for Council and College Committees members.

The ideal candidate will have experience in corporate governance (ideally, experience in public sector or non-profit organizations, but corporation experience would be an asset as well). Proven experience and success coordinating and managing the work of operating and statutory committees would be considered an asset as well.

Qualifications

  • Postgraduate degree in a related area of study (i.e. public policy, politics) or a degree in law.
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience with corporate governance (e.g. governance policies and processes/ board committee coordination, orientation and education).
  •  Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with an ability to handle issues with diplomacy and discretion, demonstrating a commitment to ethics and integrity.
  • Proven research and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience coordinating programs, project management and/or program redesign experience preferred.
  • Proficient (advanced level) in MS Office suite of programs along with internet and database searches.
  • Fluency in French considered an asset.
