Emeritus Status is a distinction granted to physicians who were members in good standing for 25 or more continuous years under the independent practice class of registration, are fully retired from practice, and have resigned from membership with the College.
Holders of emeritus status are recorded as such in the College's public register. Emeritus Status holders are not permitted to write prescriptions or otherwise practise medicine. Emeritus status holders do maintain association with the College by continuing to receive College publications.
You will be advised whether you are eligible for emeritus status when you resign from membership with the College. For more information, please review resigning from membership.
Although emeritus status must be renewed annually, there is no associated fee. For more information, see the Eligibility Criteria for Emeritus Status and the Request for emeritus status form .
