Summary of the Undertaking given by Dr. Kenneth Richard Kesty to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, effective May 29, 2019:

A College investigation was conducted into whether Dr. Kesty engaged in professional misconduct or is incompetent in his ophthalmology practice. As a result of the investigation:

Dr. Kesty shall post a clearly visible sign in all waiting, examination and investigation rooms of all of his practice locations, which states as follows: “OHIP covers the full cost of Cataract Surgery, including the required assessment and any medically necessary testing and lenses. Other testing and lens options are available to patients, but are not covered by OHIP. Choosing not to purchase uninsured services (i.e. testing and lenses not covered by OHIP) will have no impact on your access to the surgery”.

Dr. Kesty will modify his patient consent form to include specified wording regarding uninsured services related to cataract surgery.

Dr. Kesty will not delegate his responsibility to verbally discuss with each patient his/her consent to cataract surgery.
