Previous Discipline Hearings

Committee: Discipline
Decision Date: 19 Mar 1979
Summary:

In March 1979, Dr. Mayr pleaded guilty to a charge of professional misconduct, as defined in s.
60(3)(b) of the Health Disciplines Act, 1974, as amended, in that his rights and privileges under
the Narcotic Control Act (Canada) or the Food and Drug Act (Canada) or the regulations under
either of them had been restricted or withdrawn. The Discipline Committee accepted this plea, and
found Dr. Mayr guilty of professional misconduct. Consequently, the Committee ordered that Dr.
Meyr be reprimanded, and that his licence to practice be suspended for a period of one year. It
was further stipulated, however, that this period of suspension would itself be suspended if, for
one year following any restoration of the Doctor's rights or privileges (referred to in s.
60(3)(b) of the Health Disciplines Act), he would submit his practice, records, copies of
prescriptions and other like material for examination by an inspector appointed by the Registrar
of the College at such intervals as the Registrar determined, and if the Registrar or inspector
certified to the Committee that the Doctor's prescribing practices complied with all provisions of
the Narcotic Control Act (Canada) or the Food and Drug Act (Canada).
