Disruptive Physician Behaviour Initiative

In an effort to ensure physicians and other members of the health care team can practice in a respectful work environment that supports high quality and safe patient care, in 2003 the College brought together a number of stakeholders to address the issue of how to manage physicians with disruptive behaviour.

Representatives from all aspects of a physician’s career (from training through to independent practice) developed a framework to address the issue of disruptive physician behaviour, and resources and tools to identify, prevent and manage the harmful consequences of this behaviour. Representatives of both the Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) and the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) were part of several working groups that were formed to support this initiative.
