Releasing Out-of-Hospital Premises Outcomes and Status: Draft By-law Jan 25, 2013

On December 20, 2012, the College held a special meeting of Council to approve the circulation of a proposed by-law permitting us to post the results of our Out-of-Hospital Premises Inspection Program (OHPIP) on the College website. The program, established in 2010, inspected more than 250 premises in Ontario and graded each using the following scale: pass, pass with conditions, or fail.

This by-law, if passed, would increase the transparency of this program by posting the outcomes or status of inspections that have been carried out since April 2010. In particular, this applies to only the most current outcome or status as of when the by-law comes into effect (in or around January 31, 2013) and every outcome or status thereafter.

The College is seeking feedback from both its membership and the public at large on this proposed by-law. To view further information on this consultation, and to provide your feedback click here.

Adverse Events Reporting By-law Dec 14, 2012

  3. monitoring quality improvements within OHPs.

The proposed draft by-law defines the types of events which CPSO members must report to the College, within 24 hours of learning of the event.

All feedback received will be considered by the College’s Premises Inspection Committee, Executive Committee, and Council before the draft by-law is finalized, even that which is not reflected in the final by-law. Once the by-law has been approved by Council, notification and a copy of the finalized by-law will be posted on the College’s website. Draft By-law, consultation information and feedback available here.
