CPGs & Other Guidelines
Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) are systematically developed and updated, evidence-based or consensus-based statements whose purpose is to help improve the quality and consistency of care in specified clinical situations.
CPGs synthesize large bodies of evidence, information and professional opinion into a form that is brief and as easily understandable as possible. They incorporate the most current evidence-based or consensus-based clinical information into a framework that promotes the best patient outcomes.
The College has facilitated the development of CPGs for the two programs we manage on behalf of the provincial government: Independent Health Facilities and the Methadone Program (see below).
We have also helped to develop other useful CPGs including Infection Control in the Physician’s Office and the Canadian Guideline for Safe and Effective Use of Opioids for Chronic Non-Cancer Pain. These, and other guidelines and guidebooks, are located under Other Guidelines.
