CPGs & Other Guidelines
Clinical Practice Guidelines (CPGs) are systematically developed and updated, evidence-based or consensus-based statements whose purpose is to help improve the quality and consistency of care in specified clinical situations.
CPGs synthesize large bodies of evidence, information and professional opinion into a form that is brief and as easily understandable as possible. They incorporate the most current evidence-based or consensus-based clinical information into a framework that promotes the best patient outcomes.
The College has facilitated the development of CPGs for the two programs we manage on behalf of the provincial government: Independent Health Facilities and the Methadone Program (see below).
We have also helped to develop other useful CPGs including Infection Control in the Physician’s Office and Evidence-Based Recommendations for Medical Management of Chronic Non- Malignant Pain. These, and other guidelines and guidebooks, are located under Other Guidelines.

Other Guidelines
These guidelines provide a general overview to supervisors and supervised physicians who are participating in a supervisory arrangement borne out of a College process. Information is provided about individual roles and responsibilities, and obligations to each other, as well as to the College.
