Continuing Professional Development
Lifelong learning and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) are fundamental components of a physician’s commitment to practise medicine competently and ethically.
All physicians in Ontario are required to participate in a program of CPD that meets requirements set by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and to track their credits with a recognized CPD tracking organization.
The Continuing Professional Development FAQs address the most commonly asked questions, including exceptional circumstances in which the College has determined that compliance may not be feasible.
Approved CPD Tracking Organizations
All members of the College are required to report their CPD activities to one of three approved bodies:
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada has CPD Educators to support MOC Program participants in understanding the requirements of the program. For further information or to contact a CPD Educator, visit the Royal College website.
The College of Family Physicians of Canada also has a Regional Educator program designed to provide CPD support to Mainpro+ participants. For further information, visit the CFPC website.
