About Policies and Publications
The College develops policy to address issues that have broad application to either physicians or the public, to respond to an emerging or existing problem, and to fulfill our regulatory or public interest role. Policies or issues under consideration are posted under Consultations to solicit your feedback.
The Practice Guide articulates the values of the medical profession – compassion, service, altruism, and trustworthiness – which provide the foundation for the practice of medicine. The values, principles and duties outlined in the Practice Guide provide broad guidance to the profession with links to resources for detailed information. Physicians are encouraged to refer to relevant College Policies for more specific guidance.
Positions and Initiatives group our position statements on issues impacting self-regulation and the practice of medicine in Ontario, and link you to the latest news on College initiatives.
Clinical Practice Guidelines are developed or facilitated by the College. Links to our governing legislation and by-laws are also available here.
Information about the complaints process including a complaints form to assist in bringing forward a concern about a physician is provided under Complaints. Funding for therapy and counselling information for patients whom a physician has sexually abused is also posted here.
Publications include: Dialogue: the College’s official publication; the Annual Report from Council; Noteworthy: our e-newsletter for the public; and Welcome to the College: Information for new members about the College.
The College offers a service for persons travelling abroad who have foreign embassy medical forms that have been completed by their Ontario physician, which require certification that the physician is currently registered with the College.
