CPSO begins legal proceeding against person practising medicine without a licence
Contempt of Court Order sought against Eve Stewart
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) launched a legal proceeding alleging that Eve Stewart is in contempt of court and is breaching an earlier Court Order obtained by the CPSO prohibiting her from illegally injecting Botox and Fillers.
Eve Stewart, who is not licensed to practice medicine, operates Eve’s Laser Clinic at 13 Viewmount Drive in Nepean, Ontario.
In May 2014, the CPSO obtained an Order from the Court prohibiting Eve Stewart from performing controlled acts. Based on information received from the public, the CPSO conducted an investigation which indicates that Ms. Stewart has violated the terms of this Order.
The CPSO intends to bring its motion for contempt before the Court on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 2:00 p.m., at 161 Elgin Street in Ottawa and will ask the Court to impose a fine, a term of imprisonment and requirements that Eve Stewart post signs in her clinic and run ads in the Ottawa Citizen notifying the public of the terms of the 2014 Order. The College will also seek production of Eve Stewart’s financial statements, tax returns, and all financial books and records since May 2014 and require that she be examined by the College with respect to the profits she has made by violating the 2014 Order.
The CPSO regulates the practice of medicine in Ontario, and is entrusted with serving and protecting the public interest. In the interest of public safety, we are commencing this legal proceeding against a non-member.
