On August 27th, the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSO) will be defending its decision in the Superior Court of Justice to apply restrictions to the practice of a physician. In response to an allegation of sexual misconduct, the College has required a practice monitor to oversee all patient interactions to ensure that patient safety is not compromised while the case is adjudicated through the CPSO’s disciplinary process.

As defense counsel challenges the College’s restrictions, the College intends to vigorously defend its decision. The authority to apply these restrictions is fundamental to the College’s ability to fulfil its mandate of protecting the public.
