Lisa Brownstone is Chief Legal Officer at the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, where she prosecutes discipline cases, represents CPSO on appeals and applications for judicial review, advises College Committees and its Council. Previously, she was a civil litigator with a litigation boutique and counsel at the Ontario Law Reform Commission. She spent her articling year as a clerk to the Honourable G.E. LeDain and the Honourable P. deC. Cory of the Supreme Court of Canada. Lisa received her Bachelor of Arts (with distinction) from the University of Manitoba, her LL.B. (with honours) from the University of Toronto, and her LL.M. from Yale University. She is an Associate Chair of the University Tribunal of the University of Toronto, where she presides over appeals of student discipline cases. Lisa was the recipient of the inaugural Ontario Bar Association Award of Excellence in Constitutional, Civil Liberties and Human Rights law in 2019.
