CPD Credits

Ontario physicians can earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits for participating in the QI for OHP Medical Directors Program.

  • Specialists participating in CPSO's QI for OHP Medical Directors Program may receive CPD credits through Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Program of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

    How many CPD credits will I receive?

    Specialists who participate in the QI for OHP Medical Directors Program may be eligible to claim MOC credits for completing the following requirements of the program:

    • The hours spent reviewing your Medical Director OHP Data Report and completing your QI Support Call can be claimed under Section 3: Feedback and Improvement/Feedback received for 3 credits per hour.
    • The hours spent completing your Practice Improvement Plan (PIP) can be claimed under Section 3: Feedback and Improvement/Improvement initiatives.


    The number of credits you receive will depend on the type of QI initiative selected as outlined in the Feedback and Improvement section of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada website.

    Please note: For further questions on gaining and reporting CPD credits, we recommend you reach out to the Royal College.

  • Family physicians participating in CPSO's QI for OHP Medical Directors Program may receive CPD credits through Mainpro+: Continuing Professional Development Program of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.

    How many CPD credits will I receive?

    Time spent completing the following program requirements are eligible for Mainpro+ Certified Assessment credits in Mainpro+ as an MRA QI/PI program:

    • Medical Director OHP Data Report
    • OHP QI Standards Review Tool
    • QI Support Call
    • Practice Improvement Plan (PIP)


    You can claim one credit per hour of participation (to a maximum of 20 hours) for completing the program. Please note that proof of participation is required to claim these credits.

    To claim the credits, simply search “MRA QI” in the Mainpro+ “Enter a CPD Activity” search bar.

    Your participation in the overall QI for OHP Medical Directors Program may be eligible for additional credits via the Linking Learning exercises; each exercise is eligible for five Mainpro+ Certified Assessment credits. To learn more, visit the CFPC Linking Learning webpage.

  • Members of the Medical Psychotherapy Association of Canada participating in CPSO's QI for OHP Medical Directors Program may receive CE (Continuing Education) and CCI (Continuing Collegial Interaction) credits.

    How many CPD credits will I receive?

    The number of hours spent reviewing the following program requirements can be claimed under CE Assessment (Medical Expert):

    • Medical Director OHP Data Report and
    • completing your OHP Standards Review Tool and Practice Improvement Plan (PIP)


    The number of credits you receive will depend on the number of hours you spend on the QI for OHP Medical Directors Program.

    The number of hours spent receiving feedback during the QI Support Call discussion with a CPSO Medical Advisor can be claimed under CCI (Medical Expert).

    Please note: email correspondence with a CPSO OHP Medical Advisor is not eligible for CCI credits.
