Some ICHSCs may also be captured under the regulation 114/94: General under the Medicine Act, 1991 which applies to any physician performing or intending to perform certain procedures in an Out-of-Hospital Premises (OHP).

This document sets out some frequently asked questions to help Medical Directors understand the intersection between the CPSO and Accreditation Canada accreditation programs when a premises is both an OHP and an ICHSC.

1. What if I have an OHP and an ICHSC license for the same ICHSC services/OHP procedures?

• Your facility will be inspected by Accreditation Canada, and you will be required to pay one annual fee to Accreditation Canada.
• Your centre is not subject to inspection by CPSO as per the regulatory amendment. 
• You are not required to submit changes to CPSO (i.e., staff, equipment) or report adverse events to CPSO. 

2. What if I have an OHP and an ICHSC license for different ICHSC services/OHP procedures?

• You may be required to pay both CPSO and Accreditation Canada fees, depending on the type of procedures. 
• You may be required to abide by both CPSO and Accreditation Canada inspection standards that are relevant to the services that are provided in your centre/premises.
• You will still be required to report adverse events, as well as other changes (i.e., staff, equipment, procedures, Medical Director) to CPSO.

3. Do I need to apply for a new OHP if I plan to open a centre offering funded ICHSC services only?

• No. You should contact the MOH for information on obtaining an ICHSC license.

4. Do I need to apply for a new OHP if I plan to open a centre offering funded ICHSC services and non-funded OHP procedures?

• Yes. You must notify CPSO if you are planning on performing non-funded procedures that are captured by the regulation, outside of the ICHSC license.
• CPSO will determine if a new onsite inspection is required by CPSO.

5. Do I need to notify CPSO if I have an existing OHP and want to obtain an ICHSC license?

• Yes. Please notify CPSO if you intend to apply for an ICHSC license.

6. Do I need to notify CPSO if I have an ICHSC license and would like to provide non-licensed, OHP procedures?

• Yes. You must apply to open a new OHP and will be required to under a new premises site inspection by CPSO.
