Advice to the Profession documents provide physicians with additional information and general advice to help support their understanding and implementation of the expectations set out in policies, where applicable. They may also identify some best practices regarding specific practice issues.
Delegation is intended to provide physicians with the ability to extend their capacity to serve patients by temporarily authorizing an individual to act on their behalf.
Physicians must comply with the expectations set out in this policy when ending the physician-patient relationship, except when discontinuation is due to the physician’s retirement, relocation, leave of absence, or as a result of disciplinary action by the CPSO.
In fulfilling their individual commitment to patients, professional commitment to colleagues, and collective commitment to the public, physicians must be available to provide physician services during public health emergencies.
