When a patient’s specific circumstances and health status make it appropriate, physicians who provide care as part of a sustained physician-patient relationship must, where possible, initiate a discussion about advance care planning.
Under Ontario law, certain acts, referred to as “controlled acts,” may only be performed by authorized regulated health professionals.
This policy does not provide an exhaustive catalogue of all physician expectations that apply in the walk-in clinic practice setting and other College policies set out expectations for physicians that apply in this setting as well.
