CPSO obtains interim Court Order against person practising medicine without a licence

Eve Stewart of Ottawa directed to stop performing all controlled acts

Mar 07, 2014

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) has obtained an interim order from the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Toronto against Eve Stewart, who is affiliated with Eve’s Laser Clinic, 13 Viewmount Drive, Ottawa, Ontario.

The interim Court order directs Ms. Stewart, who is not licensed to practise medicine, to refrain from performing all controlled acts. The controlled acts include, but are not limited to:

  • communicating to an individual or his or her representative a diagnosis identifying a disease or disorder as the cause of symptoms;
  • performing a procedure below the dermis such as performing surgery;
  • administering a substance by injection such as Botox and fillers; and
  • putting an instrument, hand or finger beyond the labia majora and beyond the point in the nasal passages where they normally narrow.

The interim Court order is in effect until the hearing to be held in Ottawa on May 23, 2014. The CPSO is seeking a permanent Court order directing Ms. Stewart to refrain from performing all controlled acts.

The CPSO is the regulatory body for the medical profession in Ontario, and is entrusted with serving and protecting the public interest. In the interest of public safety, we are commencing this legal proceeding against a non-member.

Should the public become aware of Ms. Stewart performing controlled acts in contempt of the interim Court order, please contact the CPSO at:
